INTERNET OF THINGS FOR INDUSTRY

The IoT4Industry project seeks to support EU growth and competitiveness through the development of a new cross-sectoral industrial value chain based on the integration and use of IoT and related components (Digital Security, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence…) into manufacturing tools, machines and robots, industrial processes, factories environment, through the cross-border collaboration between SMEs and other RDI actors of the ICT and advanced manufacturing sectors.

NEW CROSS-SECTORAL VALUE CHAIN
FOR EUROPEAN SMEs

NEWS

The IoT4Industry project is in its final stages: 3.7 million Euros have been allocated, distributed to 40 projects on 17 vertical sectors including metalworking, automotive, aerospace, defence and food & beverage.

Due to the CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) EMERGENCY, the IoT4Industry consortium would like to share some relevant initiatives to reinforce the public health sectors and mitigate the socio-economic impact in the European Union thanks to the introduction of the Industry 4.0 solutions. Technology is in fact proving to be a critical tool in the war against the unexpected: adopting smart health solutions, use of robotics for the delivery of goods and transportation of people, building automated and flexible production lines and supply chains, adopting online and remote capabilities for education, healthcare and meetings. The Internet of Things will soon play a major role in the modernisation of healthcare and disaster prevention, public safety and security, supply chain, manufacturing and production.

A lot has happened within the Iot4Industry project: the second call closed in the summer with the submission of 96 proposals (+80% compared to the first call), 16 of which were funded, receiving  an overall grant of almost 1,5 million Euros. Selected projects included companies from 15 Member States and associated countries (Israel, Switzerland and Turkey). Moreover, 17 vertical sectors were addressed by the projects including metal working, automotive, aerospace, defense and food & beverage.
