REAL TIME PRODUCTION PLANNING
The scope of the RTTP project is to implement a demonstrator for planning production in real-time, based on advanced data collected from the production-floor.
The project consortium is composed by: Octavic PTS, Romania; Eurodies Italia, Italy; Politecnico di Torino, Italy; Lund University, Sweden.
Octavic’s shopfloor management and eOEE solution, which is already running production at large pharmaceutical companies (providing substantial improvements up to 10% in efficiency), is solving part of the problem already by bridging knowledge from people in production (through guided flows according to the process) with machine data in order to contextualize the data and provide decision making support in real-time. The next gap that we see in optimizing production is that there is no way to use this data to plan activities in real-time taking into consideration what is happening on the shop floor.
Leveraging the domain knowledge of the academic consortium partners, RTTP aims to further develop and improve Octavic’s real-time planning solution and evaluate it at Eurodies. Eurodies builds prototypes and low volumes series of cars for major car manufacturers. This makes the planning extremely difficult because decisions are complex and always challenges appear during the production process. After the system is installed at Eurodies, we will be able to evaluate how well it fits with the challenges in a complex environment where you have a complex production setup and a high mix of products. The evaluation will be made based on the KPIs measured by the system (equipment utilisation, down-times, lead-time etc.)
