TAPintoSmart
Transform Analog Production machines into Smart factory
In the highly competitive and international market of wafers, Optim Wafer Services, an SME based in South of France, has initiated its Industry 4.0 conversion and identified the next bottleneck: polishing manufacturing lines in reclaim wafers (reuse of test wafer for a defined customer). Together with Alprobotic, another SME based in Switzerland, and specialized in robotics and new manufacturing lines in clean rooms to improve their competitiveness, they designed TAPintoSmart. The project proposes to convert traditional man-made polishing process into a smart manufacturing approach, combining the power of IoT technologies associated to polishing machines (rough and fine polishing) with mobile robotics, the complete manufacturing line being coordinated by a central system. This approach will transform the field polishing step into a highly integrated system, optimizing the whole workflow. The robotic technology piloted by Artificial Intelligence will replace manual with automated operations. It will thus ensure a higher control monitoring of the polishing and continuous improvement, leveraging quality management, as well as overcome social and economic problems.
