TRAXxs XSole & XSwitch
XSole connected insoles for lone worker protection with XSwitch network extender for dead zones
Workers safety is a key pillar of the social responsibility European companies have no compromise with. The project addresses the specific matter of lone workers safety in various industrial environment. It aims to test and to validate the XSole PTI, an innovative wearable device developed by TRAXxs to protect workers, within SANOFI facilities in Europe. Due to the industrial environment or the industrial site topology, it may happen workers are in areas where radio signals used by IOT device to extract their data are not available. Technically, the testing phase aims at two objectives: one objective is to ensure the XSole PTI modules can communicate with each other by using Bluetooth Long Range technology at a distance exceeding 100 meters in industrial environment and up to 1000 meters in open field, and the other objective is to ensure the XSole PTI modules inside a no signal area (not covered by cellular technology ‘GSM’) can transmit their alert messages through a GSM - Bluetooth gateway (XSwitch) developed by TRAXxs.

Solutions
The XSole PTI solution developed by TRAXxs and deployed in the context of this project with SANOFI is a smart insole. This smart insole turns any safety shoe into an advanced protection system for the workers who can be isolated from their colleagues because of their work activities. The insole detects abnormal conditions in case of accident and send geolocation alerts to the supervisors. Alerts can be sent voluntarily in both directions, allowing SOS alerts or evacuation orders. XSole PTI is 100% autonomous. It is wirelessly linked to the internet. It combines GPS, GSM and Bluetooth information and transmits the data based on the wearer’s activity. The secured signal is received and processed by the TRAXxs cloud platform. An application for smartphones or computer allows the supervisors to manage the alerts and to supervise the insoles (notification, positive security, remote setup). In dead zones where no radio signal is available to link the workers with the cloud platform, XSole transmits alert message through the XSwitch, a GSM/Bluetooth gateway developed by TRAXxs.
